The Men’s Vans Sk8-Hi Cap is a boldy remixed version of the classic high-top skate shoe. The wild aesthetic of the redesign portrays a haphazard, happy-go-lucky approach consistent with modern sneaker trends. The Sk8-Hi you know and love is reconstructed to look like it was literally cut apart and rearranged, or perhaps built with leftover scraps from the factory floor. With the traditional high-top silhouette intact, the Sk8-Hi is given a number of modifications including an added zipper on the lateral side, eyestay panels that extend onto the midsole, inconsistent metal grommets on the lace eyelets, “backwards” tongues, and a heel panel that also extends down and is stitched onto the midsole. The wild features continue on the classic vulcanized rubber sole, where the traditional Off the Wall logo licence plate that is usually on the back of the heel appears to be sliced off and re-glued onto the lateral side. And although it appears to be constructed without care, the Sk8-Hi Cap is actually built with the same high quality and great durability you expect from any pair of shoes from the classic California sneaker brand.
