Introduced by the mid-1950s, the N-3B parka was designed for USAF flight crews that were assigned to troop-transport duty in extremely cold conditions. The N-3B, also known as the Snorkel Parka, was the first Alpha Industries® jacket produced for the government in 1959 and reintroduced for the civilian market in the 1980s, and it retains the severe cold-weather and polar-condition protection inherent to the original.
