En Rama is Sherry at its most beautiful. Jancis Robinson described the previous release of this Mazanilla as: “Super-clean, racy and sleek. Definitely superior.” So, don’t miss out on the latest iteration… Established in 1792, Bodegas Hidalgo is one of the oldest Sherry producers and is widely regarded as one of the best creators of Manzanilla. Now in the hands of Luis, Antonio, Juan and Fermin Hidalgo (the 8th generation), the bodegas are known for their innovation having their own cooperage and having pioneered an aged, single vineyard ‘Pasada Pastrana’ Manzanilla, and this unfiltered ‘En Rama’ version of their ever-popular La Gitana Manzanilla. Using only Palomino grapes from their vineyards in Jérez Superior, the En Rama is bottled directly from cask with no filtering or fining. This is an intense and complex Manzanilla at its very peak. Aromatic and bursting with the distinctive regional savoury saltiness, the tangy palate has notes of hazelnut, apple, bitter citrus and a bready yeastiness from the flor it has been aged beneath for around eight years. Highly compatible with tapas, olives, grilled sardines, salted nuts and dried fruits.
